𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 l 𝗕𝗦𝗔𝗜𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

BSAIS students gained valuable insights into their academic journey during the orientation program, “Navigating the BSAIS Experience: Curriculum, Community, and Opportunities,” held last August 22, 2026. The orientation provided students with a comprehensive overview of the Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System (BSAIS) program, which builds a solid foundation in business, accounting, information systems, and technology. The program prepares students to design, manage, and improve information systems that support business operations while equipping them to analyze business processes, identify inefficiencies, manage technology-driven activities, and ensure system integrity, reliability, and security. Through defined Program Educational Objectives, the curriculum prepares graduates to become competent professionals who contribute meaningfully to their communities and the global economy. Graduates are trained to engage in accounting or entrepreneurial undertakings, build sustainable careers, pursue Continuing Professional Development Programs (CPDP) or advanced studies, and demonstrate ethical leadership in professional practice. The orientation also highlighted career pathways and industry connections. Students were introduced to dynamic opportunities across three main domains, including Accounting and Assurance roles such as Accounting Information Systems Specialist, IT Audit Associate, and Internal Audit Associate. Technology and Data pathways feature roles like Systems Analyst, Data Analyst, ERP Specialist, and Business Systems Specialist, while Risk and Business positions include Technology Risk & Compliance Associate and Business Process Analyst. To bridge academic learning with industry needs, the event showcased the University of Mindanao College of Accounting Education as the first ISACA Academic Partner in the Philippines through the UM ISACA Student Group (UM ISG). Featuring speaker Bethany Marie Capuno, the session detailed how this partnership equips students with competencies in IT audit, cybersecurity, risk management, and information systems through globally recognized certifications. Beyond classroom instruction, the orientation highlighted active engagement through student forums, national summits, and community extensions. Key initiatives featured in the program include the Student Forum & Career Orientation, the ISACA Manila Academe Summit & Precertification Exam, and the BSAIS Community Extension & AISPIRE Summit. The event recognized the guidance and support of BSAIS Program Head and UM ISG Adviser Mr. Mark Glenn G. Parpan, CPA, MBA, whose continued dedication helps direct students toward their goals. Through the orientation, students were reminded that their college journey extends beyond completing academic requirements—it is about learning with purpose, building meaningful connections, and preparing for a successful future.
