𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 l 𝗔 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗳 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: 𝗖𝗔𝗘 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗝𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘀

“Every new beginning starts with a first move.” New faces, new beginnings, and a new environment unfolded as the College of Accounting Education (CAE), in collaboration with the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA)–UM Main, held the CAE Freshmen and Transferees Orientation on August 27, 2026, at the UM Matina Gymnasium. More than an introduction to college life, the orientation provided freshmen and transferees with a roadmap to navigating their new academic environment. The program introduced the students to the CAE faculty and gave them a deeper understanding of the college’s vision, mission, core values, program educational objectives, and student outcomes. The orientation also introduced the academic programs offered by the college, namely the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA), and Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems (BSAIS), giving students a clearer understanding of the programs, they have chosen and the paths they may pursue. The discussion also highlighted important academic policies and expectations that students need to understand as they begin their college journey. Topics concerning examinations, special examinations, absences, failing grades, dropping of subjects, and academic enhancement and intervention programs equipped the students with essential knowledge on how to responsibly navigate the demands of college. The event ultimately emphasized that becoming a CAE student is not simply about completing a degree. It is about developing the competence, character, and experiences needed to become a future accounting professional. For freshmen taking their first steps into college and transferees beginning anew, the orientation provided more than information. It gave them a clearer direction for the road ahead and a community to grow with along the way. Through this initiative, CAE and JPIA–UM Main contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, fostering an inclusive learning environment that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in their academic and professional journeys.
